About Candidox Shampoo

CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE belongs to a class of drugs called 'antifungal' primarily used to treat fungal infections. It is used to treat seborrhoeic dermatitis of the scalp characterized by dandruff, red skin, itching, etc. Fungal infection occurs when a fungus invades and affects the tissue on the skin. Symptoms of a fungal infection include skin rash, irritation, redness, and scaling of the skin.  

CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE contains 'Ciclopirox + Zinc pyrithione'. Ciclopirox works by inhibiting the growth of fungus and reducing the infection. It causes membrane instability by accumulating inside fungal cells and interfering with protein transport across the fungal cell membrane. Zinc pyrithione slows the production of skin cells and helps reduce flakiness. As a result, it clears dandruff, red skin, itching, etc. 

CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE is only for external use. Use or apply CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE for as long as prescribed for you depending on your medical condition. Avoid contact with the nose, mouth, or eyes. In case CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE comes in contact with these areas accidentally, rinse with water thoroughly. Some people may experience itching, irritation, or burning sensation at the site of application. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are known to be allergic to CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or a nursing mother, it is advised to consult a doctor before using. CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE is not recommended for children below 16 years of age. Do not use in more than prescribed doses, or for a prolonged time as it may cause adverse effects. Inform your doctor if you have diabetes, HIV, AIDS, or undergoing chemotherapy, and seizures.

CICLOPIROX+ZINC pyrithione is a combination of two drugs namely Ciclopirox and Zinc Pyrithione that is primarily used to treat fungal infections of the skin such as seborrheic dermatitis (dry, flaky skin on the face, scalp, chest, upper back or ears). The fungal cell membranes are essential for their survival as they prevent the entry of unwanted substances into the cells and stop the leakage of cell contents. CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE causes holes in the fungal cell membranes and kills fungi. Thereby, clears fungal infections and provides relief from cracking, burning, scaling, and itching of the skin caused due to infections.

Directions for Use

Lotion: Wash and dry the affected area of the skin. Shake the bottle well before use. Apply the prescribed amount of CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE evenly on the clean and dry affected area and a small amount of surrounding skin. CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE is for use on skin and scalp only. Avoid contact with CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE with the nose, mouth, or eyes. In case CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE comes in contact with these areas accidentally, rinse with water thoroughly. Wash your hands before and after using CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE if your hands are not the affected area to prevent the spread of infection. Shampoo: Shake the bottle well before use. CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE is for use on the scalp and hair only. Wet scalp and hair. Wash your hair and scalp with CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE to make enough lather and leave it on for 3 to 5 minutes. Then, thoroughly rinse with water. Avoid contact with CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE with the eyes. In case CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE comes in contact with eyes accidentally, rinse with water thoroughly.

Drug Warnings

Avoid contact with CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE with the nose, mouth, or eyes as it may irritate. In case CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE comes in contact with these areas accidentally, rinse with water thoroughly. If you are pregnant or a nursing mother, it is advised to consult a doctor before using CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE. Please tell your doctor if you are allergic to CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE or any other medicines. Do not apply CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE to broken skin or cuts. Do not swallow CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE. In case of accidental swallowing, contact a nearby poison control center or consult a doctor immediately. Do not use more than what is recommended to relieve your symptoms faster and do not cover the area being treated with CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE with a bandage, as this may increase absorption of this medicine and increase the side effects. CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE should be used with caution in people with a weakened immune system due to chronic conditions such as HIV or AIDS and people who are receiving chemotherapy, diabetes, a condition for which you use steroid medication (including skin conditions or breathing disorders).

Drug Interactions

Drug-Drug Interaction:

 CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE may interact with steroids such as (beclometasone, budesonide, fluticasone, mometasone, triamcinolone), oral medications to treat fungal infections such as (fluconazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole, terbinafine,  voriconazole) medications for seizures (carbamazepine, phenytoin, valproic acid, oxcarbazepine, lamotrigine).

Drug-Disease Interaction:

 Use CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE after a doctor's advice if you have or have ever had an organ transplant, chickenpox, cancer, HIV (AIDS), cold sores, diabetes, flaky, itchy, or crusty skin, genital herpes (a sexually transmitted disease that causes painful blisters on reproductive organs), shingles (painful blisters caused by the chickenpox virus), peripheral vascular disease (narrowing of blood vessels in feet, legs, or arms causing numbness, pain, or coldness in that part of the body), psoriasis, and seizures.

The interaction of CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE with alcohol is unknown. Please consult a doctor before consuming alcohol while using.

PREGNANCY

CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE is a Category B pregnancy drug and is given to a pregnant woman only if the doctor thinks the benefits outweigh the risks.

BREAST FEEDING

It is unknown whether CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE is excreted in human milk. Please consult a doctor before using CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE while breastfeeding.

DRIVING

CICLOPIROX+ZINC PYRITHIONE usually does not affect your ability to drive or operate machinery.
